One of our clients, a leading Investment Bank, is looking to hire an Infrastructure & Configuration Manager who specialises in UNIX estate management. This person will ideally be a strong technical specialist in UNIX and be someone who can take the lead in defining the process of which upgrade and change requests for the existing estate are managed through to a specialised UNIX administration team.

The role sits in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed area of the Bank and you will take the lead on several regulatory-focussed projects relating to infrastructure management. These include:

  • Managing hardware/software upgrades as well as maintaining hardware levels
  • Providing guidance to the Support teams for managing upgrades to live and DR
  • Reporting against key infrastructure initiatives
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for this division at various infrastructure panels.

It is imperative that this person understands that they will not be getting involved in completing the technical changes/upgrades to the Unix estate themselves. Instead, they will spearhead the process in which the requests are managed.

You will also be focussed on providing support and managing the upgrades to the Bank's Web Technology as well as network infrastructure, so knowledge of the following is highly desirable:

  • Firewalls/F5's
  • Apache Tomcat
  • Chef

This is a fantastic role at a leading Bank in one of their busiest and most business-critical areas. You don't need financial services to be considered, just an expert across Unix and someone who has a good grasp of Network/Web infrastructure.
