Software Developer; Brokerage; FinTech; Agile; Python

What is the opportunity?

A young and successful Brokerage, who are building out their technology practice, are looking to hire a Software Developer. The role will give the Developer an opportunity to work with all aspects of the business (quant research, trading, trade processing and analytics). You will work with other members of the organisation on aspects such as the build and development of their evolving digital platform whilst also help championing new approaches to digitise systems and delivering high-quality, test-driven code using a variety of technologies.

This is a role that will suit someone looking for a client-facing development role where you sit with different areas of the business, learn what they do and gather requirements before building an architectural runway for that specific project. It is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to work in an ever-changing role where you will be constantly learning.

Who are they?

The Brokerage has been around for just under six years and has experienced impressive growth. Their technology practice has a clear directional path with a forward-thinking, enthusiastic CTO who you will work directly for. They have offices in both London (Central) and New York and focus their efforts on a highly analytical approach that gives their clients an edge in the market. The company encourages a start-up culture with lots of perks and a non-corporate environment but do work extremley hard, because they enjoy what they do (hours are typically 8-6).

What will you need?

  • They are pretty open to what technical background you come from. They have built a lot of their tech on Python because they're an analytical company so that is desirable however they can take people from either a .Net or Java background and will cross-train where necessary.
  • A degree from a (ideally) Russell Group University in either a Computer or Numerate-related subject.
  • An enthusiasm and burning desire to learn all aspects of the financial services industry.

What they can offer you?

This is a massive opportunity for an enthusiastic Developer to gain broad exposure to a successful financial services company that you wouldn't get at a bigger bank. You will work with all aspects of the business and not just be pigeon-holed into one particular area. This will therefore open doors to different types of projects and build your knowledge in a company that is passionate about technology and its critical role in a successful financial services firm.

You will also be eligible for their very strong bonus potential and other benefits.
