Software Developer; Hedge Fund; C#; Excel; SQL

My client, a highly successful and prestigious Hedge Fund with offices around the world, is looking to hire a Software Developer to work as part of a small team in their London offices focussed on the maintenance and development of their business-critical Middle and Back Office legacy systems. The role will see you play a crucial and investigative role in working with the business to identify problems within the existing system code and then taking the lead in regards to implementing fixes.

You will work directly alongside the head of the department for technology who will, at first, get you up to speed with the systems and the rest of the business before allowing you the freedom to interact with the company's middle and back offices teams to forge relationships, build an understanding of the systems and use your technical nous to find solutions to common problems.

There is real room to grow in this team and so this would suit either a junior developer looking to step out of an Investment Bank and go and work in a buy-side firm or a Developer looking to break into financial services.

These systems are largely built in C# so you will ideally come from a C# background however they will consider someone who has aligned themselves with Java development but is interested in pursuing a C# route. Other must haves for the role are:

  • Strong Excel knowledge
  • WPF background (nice to have but not essential)
  • SQL
  • Computer Science/IT degree
  • An enthusiastic, investigative approach to software development
