My client - a reputable name in the financial services space - is looking to hire a hands-on Linux Engineering Team Lead to play a key role in their Infrastructure space. It's a role that will see the right Linux Engineer take ownership of team's technical direction and play a key role in some high-profile project work in the pipeline for the next few years.

They would ideally like this person to either be an existing Linux Engineer looking for a step up to lead a small team or one who is already managing but happy to remain fully hands-on.

This person needs to be enthusiastic about open-source technologies as well as Infrastructure-as-a-code and be a champion of automation.

As well as working on project work, there will be an element of BAU support across the Linux estate, but any overtime will be paid. There is also flexible working (most people do 1-day a week from home) and the standard hours are approx. 9-5.30pm.

This person needs to have experience in the following to be considered for this role:

  • Experienced engineer with a deep knowledge of all things Linux
  • A background in working with Open-Source technologies and DevOps tools
  • A clear view on what a modern Linux infrastructure should look like, and what tools are needed to implement it.
  • A proven track record in server builds across multiple sites

Some desirable skills would be:

  • Python
  • Ansible
  • Powershell

This really is a unique opportunity to join a top company in their field working with new tech in an influential position within the Linux world. You will have a say on the future technical direction of the team and on what is needed for some of their key projects in 2020.
