Software Development Manager; Python; AWS; Data Analytics

What is the opportunity?

One of my clients based in Bristol, a high-performing software company who build cutting edge Data Analytics solutions for some big global clients, is looking to hire a Software Development Manager to lead a group of talented software developers in an Agile environment and grow the team further whilst putting into place a first-class culture of technical delivery.

The company has experienced continued growth year-upon-year and this is a largely hands-off management role that is designed to lead and coach the team taking full ownership of their delivery and developing your own strategy for the team's technical design process and approach. The preference however is to hire someone who is an existing hands-on lead with some pre-existing leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

·Managing and taking ownership of team (10) in an Agile/Scrum environment

·Leading your team to drive their careers growth within the company

·Liaising with senior management teams in the UK and US to prioritise project plans

·Working with leadership across software engineering and data science to develop a strategy for best practice and approach

What are the requirements?

Even though this is more of a hands-off, managerial role, you will be expected to have an extensive technical background and excellent knowledge of software engineering practices. You will also ideally have a proven track record in project delivery on some large-scale data engineering projects involving Python and AWS. This will therefore suit an existing Development Lead who is looking to step up into a pure management role.

Must have requirements for this role are as follows:

·Proven software development managerial/team lead experience including mentoring and running yearly reviews.

·A background in hands-on technical delivery on data analytics projects.

·Tooling experience around the following: Cloud Computing (AWS), JavaScript, Python, Continuous Integration.

·A Computer Science degree
